The summer of 2019 was not only accompanied by a heatwave but by the terrifying and long-awaited premiere of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and once again the audience is preparing, looking forward to the second chapter of this exquisite example of horror.
A sequel to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has finally been confirmed; André Ovredal will be once again the director for the upcoming second movie, while the script will be rewritten by Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman based on a story by Guillermo del Toro.
The first film was based mainly on the strange stories of Alvin Schwartz’s books and undoubtedly Ovredal managed to capture the horror of those small one-page stories on his big-screen adaptation so there are quite a few expectations from the audience for this second chapter, hopefully with fresh new horrifying stories…
The logline for the sequel is being kept rather secret, but this is not keeping the internet from spreading some rumors and speculations about what the plot might be bringing this time. For instance, many expect to see once again most of the original cast, adapting even more stories from Alvin Schwartz’s vast horror collection.
Several fans have also shared their opinions about wanting to explore Stella’s life as a young writer and social outcast along with more extra scary stories or perhaps a storyline that follows the search for Auggie and Chuck, with the monster subplots aligning? Plenty of possibilities…
However, there has not been any formal statements about the plot of the sequel, all that is known for now is that Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark 2 will be based on a story by del Toro meanwhile cast members and other details remain unknown.
Which of Alvin Schwartz’s scary stories would you like to see in the upcoming sequel?
