No true horror fan can wait to see Netflix new bone-chilling series

If you’re a fan of Asian horror movies, pay attention because we have some good news for you…

Netflix has shared its new horror project is based on the movie «The Grudge», it has become the first series in the saga that plans to separate itself from the infinite number of sequels and remakes with a return to the roots that has presented its first trailer on Netflix Asia.

The entire «The Grudge» franchise consists of 13 films: nine Japanese productions and four US releases. The most recent movie was released earlier this year and had dismal box office results.

However, the frightening new series was entitled «Ju-On: Origins» and will be available from July 3rd. For now, the platform launched a trailer, almost two haunting minutes and now all horror fans have great expectations.

Ju-On: Origins seeks to dig deeper into the famous film that tells the story, based on real events, of a Japanese home where on account of a curse each of its members suffers a terrible death. The series follows in the footsteps of Yasuo Odajima, a paranormal investigator who is tracking mysterious deaths related to the curse on a house.

For this new horrific project, Netflix worked together with NBC Universal Entertainment Japan, with the intention of continuing the supernatural trend that gave success to «The Haunting of Hill House«. The new series is directed by 36-year-old filmmaker Sho Miyake.

According to the official synopsis of the series:

«J-Horror’s classic franchise, ‘Ju-On’, was based on real events that occurred over four decades, and the truth is even more frightening. Can the people haunted by this house escape their curse? And what kind of grim incident occurred in this cursed house in the past?»

Netflix is looking to reflect on the mythological root of history, related to much of the oral and rural traditions of Japan, about specters, curses, and possessions.

The series will have an all-Japanese cast including Yoshiyoshi Arakawa, Yuina Kuroshima, and Ririka. The rest of the details of the plot, as well as the number of episodes, have not yet been revealed by Netflix although they are expected to be known in the coming weeks.
